When people talk about 'large pores' or 'visible pores,' they are typically referring to the sebaceous pores on the face, particularly the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Pore size is largely determined by genetics and sebum production — oily skin types tend to have more visible pores. Contrary to popular belief, pores cannot physically open or close. They can appear larger due to clogging (with oil, dead skin cells, or debris), loss of collagen around the pore, and sun damage. Ingredients like niacinamide, retinoids, BHAs, and AHAs can minimize the appearance of pores by keeping them clear and promoting collagen around them.",

## Definition

Pores are the tiny openings on the skin's surface through which hair follicles reach the surface and through which sebum (oil) and sweat are released. There are two types of pores: those connected to sebaceous (oil) glands (found everywhere on the body except the palms and soles) and sweat pores. Ingredients like niacinamide, retinoids, BHAs, and AHAs can minimize the appearance of pores by keeping them clear and promoting collagen around them.
