# Propolis

## Definition

Propolis is a natural, resinous substance produced by honeybees from tree buds, sap flows, and other botanical sources. Bees use propolis to seal and protect their hives, and it has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. In skincare, propolis is valued for its potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. It contains over 300 bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, and vitamins.
